Application of the КВ1 stairwell lighting switch

In accordance with ВСН 59-88 and ДБН В.2.5-23-2003, in residential buildings under construction or refurbishment the artificial lighting of stairwells, floor corridors and the areas in front of refuse chutes must be controlled by concealed switches with a time delay of 1-5 min, rated up to 2 A, 220 V, 50 Hz.
Standard lighting control schemes have been developed. These schemes use mechanical circuit breakers with a switch-off time delay, types АВ-01-2,5/220 and АВ-2М.
To replace mechanical circuit breakers with more reliable electronic ones, NPP "VEL" offers the КВ1 stairwell lighting switch, ТУ У 31.2-309728767-005-2004. This device was developed and certified at the request of Kyivproekt, one of Ukraine's largest design organisations in the housing and utilities sector.
The КВ1 switch replaces mechanical circuit breakers of types АВ-01-2,5/220 and АВ-2М, and switches off the lighting on stair landings, in corridors, passageways and similar areas automatically after a preset interval.
Widespread use of КВ1 stairwell switches in homes and institutions could make a substantial contribution to energy saving.
The КВ1 is built into a European-made illuminated switch plate and fits a standard УПК wall box.
Electrically the КВ1 is connected in series with the luminaires, in the same way as АВ-01 and АВ-2М switches. The КВ1 works with both incandescent and fluorescent luminaires.
The lighting is switched on by pressing the switch button. Switch-off is controlled electronically and happens automatically after a set interval.
The lighting-on time is fixed and specified when ordering, in the range 1 to 10 minutes. The maximum load current for the КВ1 is 2.0 A, corresponding to a load of up to 440 W.
