Single-phase ATS panel for rooftop boiler houses. It keeps a flat's heating running when the mains supply fails.

Purpose

The ATS panel was developed specifically to supply rooftop boiler houses in apartment blocks where the mains supply is frequently interrupted.

If the public grid fails, the generator set starts and the ATS then connects the standby source automatically to the boiler house's critical loads — the central boiler controller and the circulating pumps.

You can also connect a backup supply for the building's internet router to the ATS panel output. This keeps the internet running when the mains supply fails.

A current of 10 A is generally sufficient to supply these loads. That current can be provided by a small single-phase petrol or diesel generator rated 220 V AC.

When the mains supply returns, the ATS panel disconnects the generator set automatically and reconnects the loads to the public grid.

Besides providing uninterrupted power to rooftop boiler houses, the ATS panel can be used to provide uninterrupted single-phase mains power to facilities of various kinds rated up to 2.2 kW. The ATS transfers automatically from the main supply to the standby supply when phase voltages deviate beyond permissible limits, and also when the incoming supply fails. The standby source may be a second incoming feeder connected to a substation supplied from a different line, or a small single-phase petrol or diesel generator rated 220 V AC.

Design description

The ATS panel consists of a plastic enclosure containing circuit breakers, contactors, an interposing relay and a relay

voltage monitoring, time relays.
