NejSi-3M implantable neurostimulator. Description.

NejSi-3M neurostimulatorNejSi-3M implantable neurostimulator

Purpose:

  • The NejSi-3M neurostimulator is used in neurosurgery for long-term electrical stimulation of the dorsal columns of the spinal cord, of regions of the brain and of peripheral nerves and plexuses, in order to relieve pain syndromes of various origins, and also to restore the functional state of damaged peripheral nerves and plexuses, potentially restoring sensation and some functions of the affected organs.

Principle of operation:

  • The stimulating electrical signal is transmitted by radio from the generator, through the transmitting antenna, to the electrodes of the receiving antenna implanted in the patient's body.
  • The NejSi-3M neurostimulator is dual-channel and offers five stimulation modes:
    - fixed frequency on channel one
    - fixed frequency on channel two
    - frequency modulation on channel one
    - frequency modulation on channel two
    - frequency modulation on both channels
  • The stimulation mode is selected or changed by pressing the "Mode" button repeatedly. The patient can select the stimulation mode and adjust the pulse amplitude. All other stimulation parameters are set or changed by the treating physician.
  • The duration of a stimulation session is prescribed by the physician.
  • The NejSi-3M neurostimulator is powered by a battery housed in the generator unit.

  • At maximum intensity the NejSi-3M neurostimulator runs continuously for at least 12 hours after its last recharge
  • A fully discharged battery is recharged in no more than 2 hours
  • The neurostimulator may be recharged after each stimulation session
  • The NejSi-3M neurostimulator meets the requirements of ДСТУ ГОСТ 20790, is built to mechanical group 2, climatic category У2 per ДСТУ ГОСТ 15150, and is designed to operate at temperatures from +5°C to +40°C
  • The neurostimulator receiving antenna (implant) is built to climatic category У6 and is designed to operate at nominal temperatures from 32°C to 42°C. It is hermetically sealed, and its outer shell resists aggressive biological fluids and bodily secretions.

For questions on the clinical use of the neurostimulator, please contact the advisory centre of the Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
